Making You Wedding Guest Books Special

By Danny Ricks

Wedding guest books are one of the most important features in a wedding. A wedding guest book helps newly married couples to reminisce those who attended their memorable day. This helps them also to make thank you cards or to start their newly organized address book. In this special day, you would want your guest book to be something special as well.

Wedding guest book is one of the most important things during the wedding. First, it provides a list of those people who spent their time with them. With the list, you can always prepare a thank you card for them. Second, it serves the purpose of refreshing your contacts. Your friends or relatives may have changed their numbers and addresses. You may also meet new faces - your in-laws, your spouse's friends that you might want to add in your contacts. And lastly, it holds the messages and wishes of those who love you and support you for this major decision in your life.

Never let your guest book signed half empty. Let it circulate. Since you will be too busy during the occasion, have one of your friends or relatives help you to pass it around. Do some little encouragements to your guests and ask them to leave messages. The reason why most guest books are left to shelves and be forgotten is because you have no reason to look it back again. Messages, drawings, poems, stories and good advices would make it more than just a list of names and phone numbers; it is a collection of friends and families with their love and care for the both of you.

Pictures are quite good to see in a guest book. You can have your friend take Polaroid pictures of your guests and paste it on the guest book before having them sign on it. Pictures are moments captured. As for the years to come, you will not forget the faces and names of those special people around you that day. The pictures may be candid, stolen or formal shots but they always tell a story - and it is a story worth remembering.

Weeks before the wedding, you can ask some of your friends and family members to share something that can be put on your guest book. These can be recipes, a composition, and stories in the past. They may even include pictures of you. It will be a more personalized guest book full of thoughts and fun. Surely, it is a worthy treasure to keep.

Decide also what whether you want your guest book lined or unlined. It will really depend on how you want your guest book to be - something fun or something formal. The above mentioned ideas are something that will work better on a blank guest book. A blank sheet would mean freedom wherein your guests can express their moods and their thoughts at that time. They can draw something funny, write very big or very small, they can write vertically or horizontally or whatever they want. Having that freedom will also, at the same time, can bring out the creativity in your guests as well.

Books with lined papers on the other hand are commonly used in traditional guest books. It is hard to keep your writing straight on a blank sheet of paper. It will surely look unattractive and messy. Using a lined guest book keeps things in order.

Just remember, there are no rules and definitely no limits of what you can do with your guest book. Keep in mind its purpose. It is a treasure. Take some time for ideas to make your wedding guest book as something that is worth keeping. - 33381
