What You Should Know About Pellet Wood Stove Inserts

By Eliza Melzono

The new pellet wood stove inserts are manufactured well, effective and good looking. There are numerous good reasons to think about purchasing one of the new models of these stoves.

There are so many houses that don't take full advantages of the fireplaces that they have. You can still just plug the chimney up in order to more efficiently heat your home, but a pellet wood stove insert would be a much better option if you installed on in your home.

There are many similarities between these stoves and oil or gas furnaces for the most part. They can mane your home more comfortable by providing a more consistent room temperature. The consistencies in temperature are achieved by the stove receiving a steady pellet supply, the pellets having the same BTU content throughout to achieve steady temperatures.

These inserts are quite like the free standing stoves and can, in reality, be positioned against a wall or in a corner of the room. The required clearances are very small due to the way the stove is made.

With the pellet wood stove, you don't have to worry about cutting wood or stacking it correctly, or even working with chainsaws or chains to contain the heat, making it much easier to handle. There's no mess to clean up, minimizing the splinters, ashes and bark that you have to address.

A bag of pellets is all you will need. You can save money by ordering large amounts of pellets and having them delivered to your residence. Store your bags in a dry area that you can get to easily once they arrive at your home. Although the price is different based on where you live, it will always be cheaper than gas, oil or buying solid wood. This is the easiest way to heat your home!

The pellets are manufactured by chipping hardwood, mixing it in accord with the manufacturer's proprietary formula and finally putting it through an extruder. The extruder is similar to a cookie gun which is used to make "spritz" cookies during the Christmas season.

On the downside, the main drawback to the pellet stoves is that electricity is necessary to operate them. Should there be a power outage, the auger inside the hopper will not be able to run. So it is a good idea to have a gas generator or battery backup on standby should there be a power outage. - 33381
